Eczema is a general term often encompassing conditions that may be thought of as rashes. Eczema can have many causes and occurs in many forms. It usually involves an itchy rash with swollen, reddened skin. Skin affected by eczema may blister, ooze, develop a crust, or flake off. Eczema is a common condition that is not life threatening and rarely contagious. It can affect people of any age, at any time. Often patients are looking for relief from the discomfort caused by common symptoms, such as itch and pain. Dermatologists usually prescribe a regimen of more than one product to successfully treat the symptoms of eczema.
